Anthony David Gonzalez (born August 25 in 1970) is an American former tight end in the NFL. Gonzalez was a player in the National Football League from 1997 to 2003. He is considered to be one of the top American tight ends, he is the holder of an NFL record for the most receiving yards among every tight end. Gonzalez is also ranked third in all time for the amount of receiving yards.
The former Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons All-Pro tight end Tony Gonzalez currently serves as an FOX Sports Studio analyst. From the beginning of 2017 NFL season, Gonzalez has been a fixture for FOX NFL KICKOFF, FOX's hour long NFL pregame program that precedes FOX NFL Sunday. It airs each Sunday at 11:00 AM ET throughout the NFL season.
Gonzalez has signed a contract extension for the Falcons to run for two seasons and $11 million on the 15th of March 2013. This despite having stated that Gonzalez was claiming he would like to retire at the end of 2012 NFL football season. Randy Moss' retirement meant that Gonzalez was the league's top player of active receiving yards for his final season.
